Excellence in Accounting/Business – Joshua Bonham
This student distinguished himself in the Accounting classroom in many ways. He has demonstrated excellent achievement by maintaining academic excellence. He sets personal goals of high academic achievement without compromise. He has an outstanding work ethic and inquisitive nature which has contributed to his pursuit of excellence in Accounting and Business studies. For his exemplary effort, this year’s Accounting / Business award goes to Joshua Bonham.
Excellence in Art & Design – Caroline Tagg
It is a privilege for me to award the best artist of the group. This student has exhibited her gifts and talents very well in art throughout the years, her kindness and patience have been her strength during her journey. She has persevered in many ways to accomplish her artist aspirations but definitely she is a gifted artist. I would like to present this award to Caroline Tagg.
Excellence in Biblical Studies – Toboka Nleya
This student has actively participated in the class and has always been keen to share his thoughts and understanding of God’s word. I have particularly appreciated the fact that this student understands the teaching of the Bible and uses it to make sense of the everyday world. I am happy to give the Excellence in Biblical Studies Award to Toboka Nleya.
Excellence in English – Lovishka Fhooblall
This student distinguished herself in the English classroom in many ways. She always came to class with an inquisitive mind, ready to actively participate and to ask questions not only to the benefit of her classmates but also out of her own personal quest for knowledge. She was always keen to share her ideas, knowledge and views on any given topic. Her writing demonstrated a good understanding of the complexities of the English Language linguistics and she tried her utmost to submit exemplary work. So, this year’s English award goes to Lovishka Fhooblall.
Excellence in French – Anne-Laure Bholanauth
This student distinguished herself in the French class by showing outstanding qualities, such as: respect for her teachers and her peers, critical thinking and resilience. Her thirst for knowledge and her ability to always give the best of herself has surely helped her to obtain the best grade in French. it is with no doubt that the award for the best student in French goes to Anne-Laure Bholanauth.

This student has been a model of consistency and devotion in Mathematics. She works her best to attain the best grades. She always strives to produce excellence in her workings and she is relentless in pursuing her goals for her future studies. She is self-motivated and learns from her mistakes. Despite her high standard, she never hesitates to be a good friend and to help her peers in understanding difficult concepts. Today, I am proud to give this year’s excellence award to Anne-Laure Bholanauth.
Excellence in Physical Education – Giorgos Kots
Not only is this student very gifted athletically, he also exhibits the heart of good sportsmanship. He took on any challenge given to him in class and attacked it with enthusiasm. Whether in training, PE class, competition or sports he was always determined to push himself physically. Despite his natural talent, he never seemed arrogant or cocky. He could always be found encouraging, pushing and helping other students to achieve their goals as well. It’s my honor to give this year’s excellence in Physical Education to Giorgos Kots.

This student has been an exemplary student in Sciences classes. She is always well prepared and willing to go the extra mile for her learning. She is dedicated and focused in class yet will always find time to help her peers in understanding a concept. She does not settle for average performance but always pushes to her limits. This student has been a model student in class, always well prepared and eager to go above and beyond for her education. She is dedicated and focused in class, yet she always gives time to support her classmates in comprehending a concepts. She is always ready to contribute her thoughts, insights, and opinions on any given subject. She is always pushing herself to new heights despite difficult times. Lovishka Fhooblall receives the Humanities Excellence Award this year.

The Lighthouse Award – Joshua Bonham
This is the highest award recognised by Lighthouse. This year’s winner has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the mission and philosophy of Lighthouse, including a passion for learning, creativity and community service.
Throughout the student body, from Grades 7-13, he is recognised as someone who is ready to assist and does not speak ill of others. His humble, servant leadership has garnered significant respect and admiration from peers and teachers alike, who recognise him as one who prioritizes relationships with people above all else. Joining only in 2019, he quickly established himself as a relatable young man with the heart of a servant, willing to assist by creating assembly videos during our time of online schooling. His social media prowess and assistance boosted Lighthouse’s visibility on Facebook and Instagram. Although joining in the middle of the Grade 10 school year, he nevertheless threw himself into his subjects mid-syllabus, and excelled due to a strong work-ethic and thirst for learning.

The Valedictorian Award – Sabine Dalais
This student has consistently demonstrated a passion for learning, leading the school with a high standard for excellence, all while with a servant’s heart. In both IGCSEs and A-levels, this student distinguished herself with the highest course load. In Grades 10/11, she took extra IGCSE subjects – 10 in total – and excelled in all.
During Grades 12/13, she never attended her English class, due to a scheduling conflict with her Biology course. Nevertheless, she always completed her work, and even picked up an additional subject, Environmental Management, in Grade 13. While writing the exams for these many and challenging subjects, in the midst of the pandemic, she still managed to invest heavily in extra-curricular activities, including a project in which her and team placed third – the Zayed Sustainability Prize, a global competition.

She has never used her evident giftedness as an excuse to not pursue excellence, always maintaining a high standard and work ethic.
